Rène Ray (born Irene Lilian Creese) was a British stage and screen actress of the 1930s, 1940s and 1950s. She was the third wife of the Earl of Midleton and was also a successful novelist and amateur painter in later life.

After three British Agents are assigned to assassinate a mysterious German spy during World War I, two of them become ambivalent when their duty to the mission conflicts with their consciences.

After WW2, former RAF airman Clem Morgan joins a gang of black-market smugglers-thieves but when a robbery goes wrong, Clem is caught , framed for a policeman's murder, and is sent to prison where he plots his escape and revenge.
