Beautiful but ailing girl is married to a harsh man who doesn't care for her. Only after she dies does he realize that he actually loves her.

Set in a small Slovenian village , it tells the story of its residents who lived under German occupation after the Italian defeat in 1943. While helping the partisans, the residents look forward to the upcoming liberation.
