In an effort to draw more funding from the government, faculty members of a rural Chinese school try to pass off an uneducated laborer as a qualified teacher.

Lin and her brother Lai stepped into no man's land again - they want to search for their missing father. When a heavy sandstorm attacks them, Lai is wounded. He persuades Lin to walk alone, with limited food and water.
