A man is in radio contact with his family when their airplane is shot down. He wants to find and punish those responsible and becomes a criminal to get a job as a deep-sea diver with those salvaging the plane's cargo.

Disfigured man Quasimodo (Sir Anthony Hopkins) is feared and tormented by the townspeople of Notre Dame, but he has a sensitive nature of which few are aware.

An unlucky lecturer's wife goes missing and he's accused of her murder.
